PKad.zoo StmpMac.zoo Stamps.zoo
(this readme file is contained in each of the *.zoo files listed above)
This doc file covers:
- what the PKad program is
- what the StampMachine (StmpMac) program is
- what the Stamps are
- and what to do after you've zoo x 'ed the files
PKad
PKad is a mini CAD program for the Amiga. PKad has drawing tools like
"paint" programs (in color, with various line widths, etc.). PKad also has
a special "stamp" tool for drawing components. PKad allows the user to draw
anywhere on the printed page in a WYSIWYG type format (by breaking the page
into sixteen subpages). The printout from PKad fills a printed page.
*** CAVEAT *** PKad currently supports only two printers - the Cannon
PJ1080A inkjet and the Star Micronics Gemini 10. Other printers can be
supported (see the Other Info at the end of this doc file).
StampMachine (archived as StmpMac)
StampMachine is a program used to develop components (or stamps) for the
PKad program. Since PKad doesn't care what a stamp looks like, you don't
have to use the program just for drawing schematics. You might, for
example, set up a stamp drawer filled with doors, windows, chairs, tables,
etc. and use PKad for laying out a floor plan.
Stamps
This .zoo file contains a number of electronic component stamps to be
used in PKad. Put these files into a drawer named "Stamps".
Installation
To get PKad running on your system you'll need to make a couple of
drawers. Name one drawer "BmapLib" and the other drawer "Stamps". Using
the ConvertFD program (on your 1.2 Extras disk), put a copy of
intuition.bmap and graphics.bmap into the BmapLib drawer. Extract the files
from the Stamp.zoo archive and place the files into the Stamps drawer.
Next, extract the PKad and PKad.info files from the PKad.zoo archive and
the StampMachine and StampMachine.info files from the StmpMac.zoo archive.
You can now run PKad (or StampMachine) from the Workbench by clicking on the
icons.
Other Info
PKad was written in AmigaBASIC then compiled with the AC/BASIC compiler.
The printer routines are coded into PKad and DO NOT make use of the
preference settings. If you own a printer other than those supported, you
can reprogram the printout routines to support your printer (you'll need an
AmigaBASIC compatable copy of PKad and StampMachine to do the
reprogramming). Note: if you do have to rewrite the printout routines, do a
CLEAR ,70000 before loading in PKad (its a rather long program). If you
don't own the AC/BASIC compiler, don't worry, AmigaBASIC is fast enough to
run PKad without undo distress (i.e. PKad _will_ slow down, but not enough
to really create a bother).
Other Info Too...
I'm posting this readme file separate from PKad, StmpMac, and Stamps, so
you can see what PKad is all about before downloading 100K+ of files. To
give you a little more information on the tools supported in PKad, the
following are the menus in PKad:

Some More Info...
I wrote PKad to 1)give myself a tool to draw schematics and 2)to see just
how far I could push AmigaBASIC. I'm placing PKad in the public domain
without any guarantees other than "it works fine for me". Feel free to
distribute the program to other BBSs, your friends, (Fred Fish disks?), etc.
Please try to keep the PKad.zoo, StmpMac.zoo, Stamps.zoo, and PKad.txt files
together. Please distribute only the compiled programs, not the AmigaBASIC
compatable programs.
If you want an uncompiled copy of PKad and StampMachine (i.e. AmigaBASIC
compatable), send $20 to:
Pete Kerckhoff
4335 Hendrix Way
San Jose, CA 95124
and I'll send you a disk with commented listings of PKad and StampMachine.
Note: if you don't want the disk there is no reason to send any $, I'm
posting the compiled version as payback for all the programs others have
posted that I've downloaded over the past year or so. (Long live Share-,
Free- and NaughtyUnder- ware!)
Have Fun,
Pete
